Welcome!

• Welcome to Grace Church! All are invited to receive communion at God’s altar here.
Although there are customary postures (such as standing and kneeling) in Episcopal worship, you are invited to sit at any point, according to your needs and comfort. A restroom is located to the left of the altar along the windows, or off the large room on the street level. If you would like to receive a gluten-free communion wafer, please notify the usher. If for any reason you do not wish to receive one of the elements of communion (the bread or the wine) please signify that intention by keeping your hands gently folded on your chest.

• We worship each Sunday at 8 (quiet service), 10 AM (with music).

• Sunday Sunday School for our young people each the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 10 AM! (Oct – May) and other times as announced.

• You are invited following the 8 AM service to join in a pay-as-you-go coffee/breakfast together at Blackie’s (corner of Polk and Clark). Please gather around the font after worship and we’ll all step out together.

• Please join after the 10 AM service in our Coffee/Tea/Juice Hour on the ground level of GracePlace.

• We gather each Wednesday until the Second Coming. . .

Friday, February 1, A pre-consecration reception for the bishop-elect at the Church of the Atonement on Chicago’s North Side on this evening.  Church of the Atonement is located at 5749 N. Kenmore Avenue, and the reception runs from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. Beverages and hors d'œuvre will be served for a mix and mingle gathering. Although the event is open to all, reservations must be made in advance and there will be a charge of $20 per person. Checks payable to Church of the Atonement, should be sent by the deadline of January 21 to:  Mrs. Connie Silvester / 1102 Timber Lane / Lake Forest IL  60045.  Please include attendee name(s), the name of your parish, and your email address so that we may confirm your reservation. Saturday, February 2: The Consecration of the Bishop:  Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the House of Hope Arena in Chicago’s Pullman district.  The service begins at 1 PM.  As the arena holds 10,000, all clergy and lay members are enthusiastically invited to participate.  Because of security policies at the facility, this will be a ticketed event.  Rector Ted has obtained four tickets – ask him for some!  Volunteers will be needed for the liturgy of consecration.  If you are interested in serving as an usher, greeter, acolyte, thurifer, eucharistic minister, chorister, please let us know.   We'll do our best to accommodate all who wish to participate.  Please contact Elaine Caldbeck at administrator@bishopforchicago.org. Include your name, church, phone and email address.

Sunday, February 3: The Welcoming and Seating of the Bishop. At St. James Cathedral, 4 PM, during a service of Evensong, with reception following.

• Grace Women's Group is open to all women who attend Grace Episcopal Church. You are warmly welcomed to join us as we support one other on our spiritual journeys. We intend to create a nurturing, creative space for the group so that we can envision new leadership roles that we, as women, can bring to Grace Church. The standing meeting time is the second Saturday of the month, 2-4 PM. The next meeting: Saturday, February 9, 2-4pm at Mary Lou's. Please contact Louise LeBourgeois if you are planning to attend or would like more information.

• You can now make your gifts and pledges to Grace Church via credit card or automatic draft from your checking account.  Go to www.parishpay.com or call 1-866-PARISH1. It takes only three minutes to get an account up and running. Our vestry hopes that using parishpay for your contributions will smooth out our regular cash flow, especially in summer months. Vestryperson Tom can answer technical questions about sign-up; there is more information on the usher’s table.
